Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Chocolate and bananas, my two favorite things. I go BANANAS for bananas so you can't hate on them around here. Plus, you can catch me consuming some form of chocolate almost every single day. That's why this combo tastes incredible to me. If we're talking about combining foods, these two are a match made for one another.

If you love banana bread, and I know if you're here you probably do, then this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread will bring a smile to your face! It has a beautifully baked outside and a soft, flavorful inside that will make it hard to resist. Enjoy it for breakfast, as a snack, or as dessert!

This recipe is made with oat flour which is easy to make at home. All you do is throw some oats into a food processor or blender until ground (doesn't have to be fine). It saves me money and provides a nutritional flour for baking and cooking. You can buy it at stores as well if you’d rather not make it yourself. The other ingredients are pretty simple. I use coconut sugar but you can replace it with any granulated sugar you prefer. I like my bananas to have lots of brown dots to give the bread natural sweetness. And for the chocolate chips, I used 1/2 to 3/4 cup but you can definitely eyeball it depending on how much chocolate you like in your bread! 

As far as recipes go, this one’s an easy one! It’s as simple as mashing bananas, mixing the ingredients, and throwing it in the oven. This bread would be great to prep on the weekend and have throughout the week, or to eat some and freeze the rest for another time.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

makes 8-12 slices



  • 2 cups oat flour (use gluten free oats to make gluten free)

  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3 medium, ripe bananas

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup liquid coconut oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (use dairy free chocolate chips to make dairy free)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Combine oat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl

  3. Mash bananas in a small bowl and then add eggs, coconut oil, and vanilla and mix until combined

  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix 

  5. Fold in chocolate chips

  6. Pour batter into a greased bread pan and bake in oven for 40-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean

  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely before removing from pan and slicing
