Classic Apple Pie 

A deliciously sweet, cinnamon flavored apple pie made with less sugar than traditional recipes

Apple pie is one of those desserts that most everyone loves! It’s a crowd pleaser for sure so whether you enjoy pie over the holidays or throughout the entire year, this recipe will be hit with everyone. 

I’ve made this pie with a double crust as well as a lattice crust and both work beautifully. This easy-to-make pie has just a few ingredients. The filling is made with thinly sliced apples, coconut sugar (can be replaced with brown sugar or cane sugar), lemon juice, flour of choice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Only 5 ingredients aside form the apples themselves!!

To add leaf decor to your pie, you can buy Fall cookie cutter to use on the dough before baking.

  • 2 pie crusts of choice

  • 6-7 cups thinly sliced, peeled red apples (~ 4-5 apples)

  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar

  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 Tbsp flour of choice

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Grease pie pan and follow instructions for bottom pie crust of choice (premade or homemade)

  3. Wash, peel, and thinly slice 4-5 large apples

  4. Add sliced apples to a large bowl

  5. In a small bowl, combine coconut sugar, lemon juice, flour, vanilla, and cinnamon

  6. Pour mixture oven sliced apples and stir together until all apples are coated

  7. Transfer apple mixture to pie crust and spread evenly

  8. Place another pie crust over top of the pie and seal edges or slice pie crust into strip to make a lattice top

  9. Optional: cut pieces of pie crust with a baking stencil to add decor to top

  10. Cover pie with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 15 minutes (filling should be slightly bubbling)

  11. Let cool before slicing and enjoy!

  12. Refrigerate for 4-6 days or freeze slices for up to 4 months
