Morning Maca Drink

I've been hearing a lot about maca lately and, after some research on the potential benefits, I was so eager to try it out! I will admit, I'm a bit of a "foodie," as some would call it, and I'm interested in trying all sorts of new foods especially when they're said to have medicinal qualities. Maca, scientifically referred to as Lepidium meyenii, is a plant mainly found in the Andes of central Peru. This plant is mostly consumed in powder form and contains many vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, copper, and iron. It is said to improve your mood, enhance sports performance and energy, and balance hormone levels. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but I do look for alternative boosts for those sleepy mornings. definitely think that foods react differently for different people. For instance, I could drink a coffee at 9 o'clock at night and still snooze by 10 pm. But, if you're interested in trying maca root powder out, this Maca Morning Drink is a simple and refreshing way to incorporate it into your day.

Tiff Tips

  • If your 1/2 banana is not frozen, add a handful of ice 

  • If you have a vanilla flavored milk, you can omit vanilla extract

  • If you don't like banana, you can replace 1/2 banana with 2 tsp honey

Morning Maca Drink

Serves 1 

Total time: 2 minutes


  • 1 cup non dairy milk (or milk of choice)

  • 2 tsp maca powder

  • 1/2 frozen ripe banana

  • 2 Tbsp pb2 or 1 Tbsp nut butter

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon


  1. Blend ingredients and enjoy!
