Paleo Baked Chicken Tenders

with a homemade dipping sauce

paleo, keto, gluten free, dairy free, grain free

Seasoned chicken tenders breaded with an almond flour coating and baked in the oven until golden.

When I was a little girl, there was only one restaurant menu item I needed to know and it was “chicken tenders and French fries.” There was nothing else that compared.

Mexican restaurant: “chicken tenders and French fries.”

Italian restaurant: “chicken tenders and French fries.”

“Honey, are you sure you don’t want to try something else?: “chicken tenders and French fries.”

And this slight obsession over chicken tenders was 1) long lived and 2) very deserving because chicken tenders are the best.

I haven’t eaten chicken tenders on the reg much since about middle school (ish) time period until trying baked tenders but now, I’m hooked! With baked (esp paleo/gluten free) chicken tenders, the breading isn’t as thick and crunchy BUT, coming from a long-time chicken tender lover,..they're good!

These baked chicken tenders are deliciously seasoned! With the yummy flavor, I didn’t even need ketchup (which is a bold statement for me) but honestly, I still put some on because it’s a necessity with chicken tenders.

The dipping sauce I created for these tenders is made out of ketchup, dijon mustard, and seasonings. If you want to try something out besides ketchup, this is a great option.

The only ingredients for the tenders, besides the chicken itself, are almond flour, eggs, and seasonings!

These are great for dinners, meal prep, or kids dinners!

  • 1 lb chicken tenders

  • 2 cups almond flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tsp paprika

  • 2 tsp basil

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2-1 tsp salt (based on preference)

dipping sauce:

  • 3 Tbsp ketchup

  • 1 Tbsp dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp Franks Red Hot Original Sauce or any type of hot sauce

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Mix almond flour and seasonings in a medium bowl

  3. Lightly beat eggs in a separate medium bowl

  4. Fully coat a chicken tender in the egg mixture and then fully coat it in the almond flour mixture. Place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining tenders.

  5. Optional: repeat previous step to double bread if there’s leftover batter

  6. Bake in oven for 12 minutes. Flip tenders and bake for an additional 3 minutes.

  7. Optional: while tenders are baking, mix dipping sauce ingredients together in a small bowl

  8. Remove chicken tenders from the oven, serve hot with dipping sauce, and enjoy!
