Savory Sweet Potato Bread

This savory bread has my heart!!!!

It’s easy-to-make and inexpensive which as we know, is the best combo.

The delicious flavor along with the soft texture of this bread is what makes it so good!

I also love the versatility of this bread. It works great with breakfast (avocado spread is the best on it!) or it can be enjoyed as a dinner bread alongside a meal. 

There’s no sugar in this recipe which I know many people will enjoy because most bread sold in stores has at least a little bit of sugar to preserve freshness and add flavor. There’s nothing wrong with that but this gives an option for those who would rather avoid it. 

This bread is gluten free (as long as you use gluten free oats), dairy free, and nut free so this recipe is perfect for any of y’all who have those specific allergies/ intolerances/ preferences.

Savory Sweet Potato Bread

makes 8-12 slices


  • 1 1/4 cup oat flour 

  • 1 cups oats (use gluten free oats to make recipe gluten free)

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • 1 tsp rosemary

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 large sweet potato (heaping one cup once blended)

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup nondairy milk

  • 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp olive oil


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

  2. Place sweet potato on baking sheet and bake in oven for about an hour or until soft

  3. Remove from oven, lower temp to 350 degrees and let potato cool

  4. Once cool, add sweet potato to food processor or blender until smooth

  5. Add dry ingredients to large bowl and mix

  6. Add heaping 1 cup of blended sweet potato, eggs, milk, and olive oil to small bowl and mix

  7. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined

  8. Pour mixture into greased loaf pan and top with a sprinkle of thyme and rosemary

  9. Bake in oven for 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean

  10. Let cool before removing from pan

Slice and serve! Top with avocado, butter, or enjoy plain!

Stay fresh in sealed container for 1 week
