Tofu Lettuce Wraps

with an asian slaw

vegan, vegetarian, gluten free

A super simple, asian flavored, inexpensive meal!

I love lettuce wraps, especially when I’m craving something light and fresh. For lettuce wraps, I would suggest buying butter lettuce (or hydroponic lettuce). It holds up really well once you put the ingredients inside.

The slaw recipe adds great flavor and texture to these wraps. If you’re not a tofu person (trust me, I get it) and want to replace it with something else like chicken, I would definitely still try the slaw for some crunch and flavor.

These wraps are full of inexpensive protein and nutritious veggies plus they're colorful and easy-to-make so they’re perfect for family dinner or a night with friends.

I hope y’all love this recipe as much as I did!!!

makes 8-10 lettuce wraps

16 oz package firm tofu

1 Tbsp sesame oil (or other cooking oil)

1 Tbsp coco aminos (or soy sauce)

Sprinkle of garlic and onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Asian Slaw:

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cups shredded purple cabbage

1/2 cup purple onion

2 Tbsp sesame seeds

1 Tbsp sesame oil (or other cooking oil)

1 Tbsp + 1 tsp coco aminos (or soy sauce)

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

8-10 pieces of butter lettuce

  1. Heat 1 Tbsp sesame oil in a large pan over medium-high heat

  2. Cut tofu into desired size and add to hot pan with seasonings and coco aminos

  3. Cook until tofu is heated through and desired texture is reached

  4. While tofu is cooking, mix slaw ingredients together in a bowl (shred carrots and cut cabbage if not purchased that way)

  5. Once tofu is cooked, tear pieces of butter lettuce off of the head and add a scoop of slaw and a few pieces of tofu on top. Fold ends of lettuce over and enjoy like a wrap!!
